Rainforest jasper cabochons are cut from a type of stone that often comes in shades of olive green quartz. It sometimes has flecks of copper color, or bands of clear or semi-translucent agate-like inclusions.

The patterns on rainforest jasper cabochons can sometimes be quite striking where the copper and tan mingles with the green in stripes or spots. Some people, myself included, think some of the the patterns resemble the coloring of tree frogs.
