Where We Came From

What Happens When A Software Engineer Meets Her Creative Side?

Brandywine Jewelry Supply began in the middle of 2003, the brain child of small business owner and founder Lisa Allen.

While working in web programming for a growing software company, Brandywine founder, Lisa Allen discovered jewelry-making in an effort to reduce her personal stress at work.

Lisa says of the experience,

"I've always been a very visual person, and instantly I completely fell in love with the huge variety of sparkly, shiny jewelry supplies available to me. I loved the gemstones, the natural stone components, the subtlety and brilliance of colors, and the whole creative process of jewelry making with my own two hands."

What came next followed naturally. Taking her programming background, a love of amateur photography and her practical organizational talents, Lisa created Brandywine Jewelry Supply, an online store to serve up her favorite beads, wire, cabochons and gemstones to her fellow jewelry artists.

At first, the business was only part-time, and customer orders were packed in the upstairs loft of their Chandler home and dropped off at the post office before work each morning. But before long, Brandywine grew, and became so busy that Lisa quit her programming job to take care of customers full time. Soon after that husband Vince also joined her in the business, filling and shipping the many orders.

It's been more than eight years since those humble beginnings in an upstairs room, and Brandywine Jewelry Supply now carries about 1500 products. Our shipping department recently moved into a professionally managed warehouse in Tucson in June of 2010. At the start of 2011, a Customer service phone department was also added to give customers additional ordering choices, but Lisa and Vince remain very involved in the business.

Each product carried in the store is still carefully selected by Lisa or Vince with quality, value and beauty in mind. Lisa also continues to produce the photos for the web site, and write product descriptions.
